Legend has it that a long time ago, all the seas and oceans were created and ruled by the mighty god Oceanus. Later, the older generation gods, including Oceanus, were overthrown by a younger generation of gods, namely Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades.

The kingdom was divided among the 3 brothers with Zeus ruling heaven, Poseidon ruling the waterworld, and Hades controlling the underworld. Since Earth was mainly comprised of water and every living creature on Earth consist of water molecules, Poseidon essentially controlled the entire Earth. Whenever he came up to inspect the Earth, oceans parted and huge storms signalled his arrival. Boats, large and small, would be swallowed by the fierce storms within a blink of an eye. Tall waves would crash onto shores, destroying homes along the shorelines. Poseidon loved a grand entrance. He especially loved creating havoc with water. By raising his Triton to the skies, lightning would appear, dark clouds would roll in, and torrential downpours would soon flood homes and wreak mass destruction everywhere.
